I am dealing with a person who is trying to get a divorce in New York. But she is having a VERY HARD TIME doing it! What exactly are the laws regarding divorce for women? Thanks!
She needs to find a lawyer who understands that marriage and divorce laws are state by state and not city by city. It would also help if the lawyer knew that the law applied to both women and men.

Have divorce laws and others gone too far?
Equality is a great word and I’m all for it. But going thru a divorce, I saw my ex-wife was able to do/say/claim almost anything without ever being punished for lying (she was caught three times but the judge/s never punished her.)
That plus seeing my son; my ex stopped us from seeing each other up to six months in a row. When I called a lawyer, he wanted lots of $ and said "she doesn’t have to listen to the judge."
Is there ever a case in which the laws were unequal and hurt men/boys?
Sadly a woman knows that in a divorce she can cause you great grief. The courts almost always side with them. Now fems will say it should an is equal but all guys know better. An they know they can do whatever they want an just ware you down on court cost till you can’t fight no more. The system needs to be revamped. I hope to become a judge one day so I can correct many a wrongs.

Which divorce laws do I follow if I got married in NM but now live in PA?
I got married in New Mexico and now live in Pennsylvania. If I want to get a divorce do I need to follow the divorce laws in New Mexico or Pennsylvania?
You file for divorce in your state of residency, this is usually where you have lived for at least 6 months, depending on your state. Where you married has nothing to do with the divorce. Just to be sure, check NM & PA laws to see what their residency requirements are: http://document-do-it-yourself-service.com/divorce_laws/state_divorce_laws.html
If you get married while stationed abroad, whose divorce laws do you go by?
If two people meet and get married while stationed overseas(army), whose divorce laws are used? I heard it was the home of records, but what if the two have different home of records, say Washington state and Tennessee? Since they get are getting a divorce while still overseas, and the wife must leave and go back to the states, who gets the kids? I’m asking this for a friend, any advice is appreciated.
Usually it is where your home base is my friend got married to his wife when he was stationed in Korea and 2 years later when they divorced she went back to Michigan he got the divorce in the state he was stationed in hope that helps.

divorce laws?
I am wondering can my husband move out of the house and not making payment toward the house that we both share plus other expenses? He just moved out and took most of the money. And said that he is not going to help me with the house payment and other payment such as credit cards . Thanks
We both live in TX. The house is under both of our names. He also said that he will begin to pay child support on 1/15 even though he said he doesn’t have to until order by the court. Should I accept this since I haven’t been served with divorce paper? Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it.
Get a good lawyer. My Ex Husband had to pay all the credit card dept and for the house. A good lawyer is worth their weight in gold

Do you think divorce laws should be gender neutral in America?
As an equal minded liberal I believe divorce laws should be equal. If people (men and women) are begging for equal pay for women then I feel a woman who makes way more than a man in a marraige should be forced to pay out the same as a man. However some people disagree because they believe that men should not use woman but that should not be the issue the issue should be on equality. Do you agree or no?
But wait a minute – that would be fair!
